Rubio® Monocoat DuroGrit is a next-generation exterior wood finish designed to protect and enhance all types of outdoor wood surfaces in a single layer. Using advanced FibreGrit Technology, DuroGrit combines cellulose wood fibers with an emulsified oil base to create a breathable, penetrating monocoat system that stands up to the toughest outdoor conditions.

This sustainable wood finish offers superior UV protection thanks to its increased concentration of UV blockers, which shield your wood from greying, fading and sun damage. DuroGrit is semi-transparent, adding a warm, natural look that elevates the character of wood species like cedar, teak, and pine.

Unlike traditional exterior finishes, DuroGrit is VOC-free, ecological and safe for both users and the environment. Its water-soluble, wood-based formula offers exceptional durability, water and dirt repellency and long-lasting performance without the risk of cracking or peeling.

FAQs

Does DuroGrit require Exterior Wood Cleaner before application?
Rubio recommends using Exterior Wood Cleaner on exposed or weathered wood to effectively remove mold, mildew spores and surface weathering. For new wood, it also eliminates mill glaze, which can otherwise hinder optimal penetration and adhesion of DuroGrit. Thorough cleaning with Exterior Wood Cleaner opens the wood grain, allowing maximum oil absorption. If Exterior Wood Cleaner is not practical, you can achieve similar results by sanding: using 80-grit sandpaper for decking or siding, and 120-grit for windows, doors or outdoor furniture. This process removes mill glaze and opens the wood pores for best performance.
