Rock Hard Maple ( Acer saccharum) is the most commonly used veneers for Longboard and Skateboard deck construction. Its characteristics of being hard, strong, and tough make for a great board. Whether it be skateboard or longboard, Maple can hold up through all of the wear and tear. Longboard and Skateboard veneer is typically produced in three grades or plys: Face, Core, and Crossband, and Core. The wood grain goes in the same direction as the face grade and adds flexibility to the board when made in this construction. The grain goes across the direction of the other two grades and adds dimension stability.
