A smooth transition from the flat back to the socket ensures long, comfortable paring operations without the chisel lifting unexpectedly. The side bevels are swept back towards the centerline for excellent access to tight corners, making them ideal for dovetail work and intricate cuts. The resulting flat area (or "land") is consistently 0.7mm wide—narrow enough to fit tight spaces but wide enough to avoid discomfort from a sharp edge.
