The Woodpeckers Ultra-Shear Turning Tool with Round Carbide Insert is shaped for smooth interior cuts and refined surface control on curved forms. It is suited for bowl and spindle work where consistent contact and clean finishes matter. The round Ultra‑Shear carbide insert tracks smoothly along concave surfaces while maintaining a stable cutting presentation.
The tool performs shaping cuts on centerline, then rolls into the engineered 45° shear scraping angle for finishing passes. That geometry allows the cutter to slice fibers cleanly inside bowls and along coves, reducing sanding time and preserving crisp curves. The ChroMoly steel shaft adds rigidity that keeps the tool steady while the polished surface glides easily across the tool rest.
When the edge dulls, simply rotate the insert to a fresh edge, and when all edges are used, replace the insert and continue working without interruption. When removing the locking screw, first ensure the screw head pocket is completely clean of sawdust and residue, and that the wrench is fully seated in the socket before you attempt to remove it. Firmly turn the screw counterclockwise to loosen. When reinstalling the new screw, apply a light dab of anti-seize compound to the threads.
